movie panchrangi which is titled as ‘HuDuGaRu bEkU’
& ‘nInNaYa NaLuMeYa’! what to say! She is just blasting
the tollywood music industry! So lets start the review of the
tracks!

‘HuDuGarU bEkArU’! the track has just step forward the
tollywood music industry! the voice is given by honey soaked
voice singer ShREyA GHoSHaL & very cool dude
named ChEtAN sOsCa! Track seems to be foot tapping &
very fast paced peppy number with beautiful vocalist raag,
rhythm & tempo & in its own beautiful lyrics.

In ‘HuDUgArU bEkArU’ the line now ready are repeated
continuously with its own percept & solitude! Hope it’s a
background voice given by ChEtAn SoScA! Guitar & violins
are accompanied in this track! In my views felt that
the track is similar to the track named ‘GeLlUbA gElLubA’
from the movie ‘NoOrU JanMaKu’ what a co-incidence it is a solo
track which is sung by shreya! sa re ga ma pa da ni sa the background
voice is just unbelievable by the chorus singers. Claps for them!
You can enjoy the track for approximately 5min! in this track many
english words are add! which is meant as combination of kannada + English!
though myself cannot understand the language but as she
sings with her grttttt voice just that touches my heart!

Lets check out the next track which is ‘NiNnAyA nAlUmEyA’
it is meant to be romantic track in its own way & rights!
It’s a solo not a duet! Sung by our proud of music industry singer
ShREyA ghOShAl! with a very touchy & bloomed voice as she
always does! A grtttt violin music in starting interlude!
I felt that this track is similar to ‘MeRi YaAdOn MeIn HaI Tu’ from
‘HaRi pUtTaR’! which is also sung by shreya in solo!
violins masic & drums it’s a catchy think in this track!
BAgPiPeS sound just take to another world! music
composed by mAnO mUrTHy! ShREyA gHOsHaL has
just blasted the music industry with her sweet and
tranquiliting voice! Need to say the mano murthy has
bought soul to the music! The beautiful strumming of
the violin is simply yet soul – stirring. The interlude note
of the ‘NiNnAyA NaLuMeYa’ has bought a soothing feel
in this track! As you can blasttttt this track for 5min!

Jai Ho pulse missing from Rahman's composition!

A. R. Rahman's theme song for the Commonwealth Games, Khelo jeeyo, hey-o, has drawn mixed response from fans. But quite predictably, most big names in the music industry are backing the maestro's effort.

Many music buffs, including BJP leader and Commonwealth Games Organising Committee executive board member V. K. Malhotra, have questioned the song's quality. The verdict is that the Oscar-winning music director has done too rushed a job to justify his hefty fee - close to ` 5.5 crore.

"The song has fallen short of expectations. We expected something better from a composer of his stature. He has given us good songs in the past, but this one is unimpressive. He should tweak it. There is still some time before the Games," says Malhotra.

On the theme song's portal, Rahman fan Vivekananda Vemana writes: "I'm sorry Rahman, I don't like it (the song). But anyway, I
am happy that you tried your best." The Bollywood music frat, however, is more generous. " We must keep in mind that Rahman's songs have a way of growing on people," says singer Kailash Kher.

Singer Ila Arun agrees. "Rahman's creations elicit mixed reactions in the beginning. Even Jai ho-his Oscar-winning number in Slumdog Millionaire-was initially panned. But the song went on to become a global rage. I think the same will happen to the CWG theme song," she says.

So, is it a 'rushed job'? Kher says: " We should remember that he has a packed schedule. Considering that the theme song is for such an important event, the government should have given him more time. For me, Rahman is above criticism." Others in Bollywood say Rahman's brand power will make the song a hit.

"He is a music director of global stature. Simply adding his name to the CWG theme song will give extra value to the event. In the long run, among other things, CWG 2010 will be remembered for the theme song," says Bollywood's in- demand composer Pritam.

Agrees music director Shekhar Ravjiani of the Vishal- Shekhar duo: " I don't see anyone else composing this song. He has the talent to pull off anything. How can you assign the theme song to anyone else in the world when you have an Indian composer of Rahman's stature," he asks.

The song, which can be downloaded from the internet, begins with lilting strains before wild guitar riffs take over to set an eccentric mood.

Penned primarily in Hindi, the number is also laced with English hip- hop lyrics for a contemporary feel. World music whiffs combine with folksy drum beats as Rahman creates a tune that aims to be universal in spirit.

Not everyone is impressed, though. A fan Pradeep Krishnan writes on the song's portal: " After listening to the song, I realised that something is missing… request you to have more versions of the same song… which will bring enthusiasm and sportsman spirit." The only Bollywood composer who is openly critical about the song is Aadesh Shrivastava.

"I can't understand the lyrics and beats. It sounds like a typical sarkari song. Plus, my point is - why only Rahman? The government could have asked five different composers to prepare numbers and then chosen the best one," he says.

Singer Kunal Ganjawala, disagrees: " Those who want to nitpick will always find some fault. I feel the song is a good representation of today's India as an emerging global force." While on global force, some people feel instead of paying Rahman ` 5.5 crore, the amount could have been used to hire a global icon.

"With that kind of money, you could have signed on Shakira or Enrique Iglesias. Australian pop star Kylie Minogue was recently paid about ` 5 crore for her item song in the film, Blue. Why couldn't they get an international star?" asks a top Bollywood music video director, without wishing to be named.

Playback star Shreya Ghoshal does not like that idea. "Why do we need a foreigner to compose a song for our Games? We don't need to import everything. You can't doubt Rahman's status as an international star," she says.

Among those who think the song will grow on people is actor Sharman Joshi. "The theme song will rock the nation. Give it some time to become popular," he says.

Brouhaha over the quality of the song started some time ago when Rahman presented the number before the Group of Ministers ( GoM) on the Games in the Capital. He was then asked to tweak it before the opening ceremony.

" When I presented the theme song, it was approved but they asked me to tweak it," the Oscar- winning composer had said then, adding that he had been given 10 days to make the song livelier.

The updated number was released on Saturday. In the meantime, not many know that playback singer Shaan too had recorded a tentative theme song for the Games. The number was composed by Shamir Tandon, of the Page 3 fame.

"Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit had commissioned the song. I don't know what happened to it," says Shaan, insisting that he is happy that Rahman was selected for the job.

"He is the perfect choice to compose the theme tune for our CWG, not Shakira. Sooner or later, people will begin liking his tune," concludes Shaan.

Shreya Ghoshal mesmerises New Zealand!

Shreya captured the hearts of New Zealanders with her awesome melodious performance at the packed Telstra Pacific events centre, Auckland, on August 20.
Her voice was a musical treat that quickly struck a chord with the large Indian and Fijian community settled there, and revived nostalgic memories of their homeland.
The evening kicked off with Shreya's soulful rendition of Tujh Me Rab Dikhta Hai followed by the peppy track Bahaara from the film, I Hate Luv Storys
Thunderous applause greeted the rendition of Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai (Jism
But the track that really touched the hearts of the crowd was the very romanticTeri Ore (Singh is Kinng)  One can still remember how beautifully this song was picturised on Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar
One would have liked her to sing more of the very catchy Tu Bas De De Mera Saath (Gangster  while Pal Har Pal (Parineeta )was rendered perfectly. The audience really lapped it up.
But the song that really got the crowd on their feet was the very vibrant and peppy Ye Ishq Haaye from the Kareena Kapoor starrer Jab We Met  and Bairi Piya and Dola Re Dola from Devdas.
Post break, Shreya lit the stage with Barso Re Megha (Guru). Aucklanders enjoyed that, as the showers were already in full swing.
Zoobi Doobi from the blockbuster 3 Idiots really got the crowd going. Once again Shreya's vocals were mindblowing. I especially enjoyed the small additions to the song.
She followed it up with the very simple and sweet yet exuberant track, Hum to Aise He Bhaiya (Laga Chunari Mein Daag). The audience liked the rendition ofDhum Tana (Om Shanti Om while the teenagers loved her flawless rendition of the very sexy track Jaagi Jaagi Soyi Na Me Saari Raat (Prince).
Shreya did a medley of catchy songs starting with Tera Mera MilnaBring It On,Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha and Om Shanti Om. The youth in the galleries loved the song All Cool Boyz.
Shreya soon switched gears by singing the very romantic yet mystical numberBepanah Pyaar He from Krishna Cottage and a Marathi song.
In the last segment of the show, she paid tribute to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar by singing Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi Shikva Nahin from the superhit movie Aandhi. One could see a lot of older people getting nostalgic with this one. She introduced all her musicians and then ended the musical night with Dola Re and Ye Ishq Haiye.
All in all, it was a superb show organised by ABC Entertainment and Perfect Harmony Productions. Shreya captivated the music-loving fraternity of New Zealand with her melodious, flawless and extremely soothing vocal renditions.
The magical web that she cast on the audience kept them entranced for almost four hours.

Vishal's judging it right!

Vishal Dadlani, who was in town recently for a performance of Pentagram, talks to TOI about his musical preferences in the city and the recent composers, whose music he loves

What is the best and the worst part of performing in Kolkata?
The worst part is that all flights to Kolkata are really really early in the morning. We have to sacrifice our sleep in order to catch them. The best part is of course, the crowd and the mind boggling response that we get each time we play in the city. The same thing happened this time too. So we are very happy to be here each time.

What is the music scene like in Kolkata?
The music scene is pretty cool out here. There is whole bunch of Kolkata bands, whose music I admire, like Skinny Alley, Pink Noise, The Supersonics and Prachir. The urban music scene is also pretty strong in the city. Musically, this city has always been much ahead of others. It has been the breeding ground of some of the greatest musical talents that India has produced so far. Our National anthem too is from this place. Look at RD Burman, Kishore Kumar and even Shreya Ghoshal...they are all Bengalis! I wouldn’t have been a composer if not for RD. He is a true legend.KKR still remains our (mine and Shekhar’s) favourite team, no matter what. After composing the theme song, Korbo Lorbo Jitbo, for KKR many other teams approached us for their theme songs as well, but we said no to them, as we are both very loyal to KKR.

A composer, a singer, a VJ or a member of Pentagram — What do you prefer being most?
Though there are many sites like Wikipedia, which says that I was a VJ, I want to clear this once and for all. I was never a VJ. I used to host a programme on rock music for a music channel. That’s it. Don’t believe anything and everything that’s available on the Net. It isn’t always true. Now coming back to the question, I enjoy doing all three that is composing, singing and being a member of Pentagram. The ultimate aim is to create good music for the listeners and that is what I am striving for, everyday. Basically, it’s all the same and I don’t see them as different job responsibilities.

What about being a judge of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa?
I never consider myself a judge. My basic aim is to have some good time through good music and listening to some real good singing. This year’s participants are phenomenal. You will get to see and hear some real talents this year.

Post I Hate Luv Storys, what are your forthcoming projects?
There’s Anjaana Anjaani coming up. The promos are already on air. They are just a few days old, but we are getting huge response for the same. Then there is.

Recently, you tweeted about Amit Trivedi composing super scores for Aisha. Who are the other composers of recent times, whose music you really like?
There is a long list of names including, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Pritam, AR Rahman (he is a genius) and Amit Trivedi, whose music I admire.

A contemporary anthem for the Indian youth !

Come Independence Day and the patriotism within us goes on an upsurge, which is why perhaps music composer Salim Merchant decided to compose a rendition of the new National Anthem.
Sung by Kailash Kher, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Niigaam and Salim himself, the song is a one-and-a-half minute composition. However, since the National Anthem cannot really be changed, the new element is added in the form of acoustic guitars, piano and voice back. “The composition is made in a way that it sounds like a prayer,” says Merchant.
He says that the music company has taken care that there are no official issues involved with the reworked version. “I was really kicked about it. I felt fantastic to give something back to our own country,” adds Merchant who was very keen on making this composition when approached with the idea.

Shreya Ghoshal returns to Singapore to kick-start her latest concert tour !

SINGAPORE: She's touted to be one of Bollywood's most awarded playback singers in recent times.

And now, Shreya Ghoshal is back in Singapore to kick-start her latest concert tour.

The singer shot to fame in her teenage years, after being talent spotted to be playback singer for Bollywood star, Aishwarya Rai in the blockbuster hit - Devdas.

The song from the film launched her career as she received both the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent.

"I was actually a student at that time doing exams, so I was like taking my books and everything and in the studios. And I was a part of the whole process throughout, so I would sit in a corner, and do my studies, whenever I was called, I would be rehearsing, it was such fun," Shreya recalled.

Since then, the 26-year old has worked in more than 140 films.

Besides Hindi, she also sings in Malayalam and Tamil - just to name a few.

And Shreya admits it can be quite tough at times.

"Let me give you all a secret, I sometimes forget my own lyrics, even on the stage I blank out, and I just make out my own lyrics and nobody knows. Very confidently I make up for all the goof-ups I make," she revealed.

Many regard her as the next Lata Mangeshkar - a famous playback singer.

Though Shreya has been touted as a rising youth icon in India, it wasn't easy for her to step into the limelight.

"I was a little apprehensive of coming into performances. I don't think even when Devdas was even released, even after that I was convinced by so many people but I could not just say yes, because I was not too confident about that.

"I thought that I had to have a little more repertoire of songs, to come on stage and perform so I gave almost one year of thought and convincing myself that now I should give my first performance.

"For acting stints, I have been approached, but I am totally scared of it, and I can't act, I know that for sure," she said.

Shreya will perform on Sunday, August 15, at the University Cultural Centre. - CNA/fa

Shreya Ghoshal : Singing all the way to the ToP!

India’s melody queen Shreya Ghoshal has sung several songs for Bollywood and other Indian film industries. Besides Hindi, she performs in Assamese, Bengali,Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, and Tamil songs. Ghoshal is one of the most awarded playback singers in recent times, with four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards to her credit.

She is a great fan of Vani Jayaram. Shreya caught the attention of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for a second time, this time as an adult. In 2000, he offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of his film Devdas, who was portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang five songs under the musical direction of Ismail Darbar in the film. Her performance won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer, as well as Filmfare’s RD Burman Award for New Music Talent, given to upcoming talents in music. She also won a National Film Award for the song “Bairi Piya“.

Her songs “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai” from Jism, “Mera Dholna” from Bhool Bhulaiyaa, “Teri Ore fromSingh Is King”, “Yeh Ishq Haaye” from Jab We Met and “Barso Re” from Guru are all smashing hits you can’t ever forget.

Rohit Revo interviewed Shreya Ghoshal on the eve of her tour to Australia.

You are the only singer to get four national awards at the age of 26 in the Hindi film industry. How does it feel to achieve so much at such a young age?
Well, frankly I have never sung for awards.. I am blessed that I have received so much love and respect from my audiences and jury all throughout. I would say, this is just my beginning, there is a lot to do. I am still evolving as an artist.

June 26th, 2010 has been declared as “SHREYA GHOSHAL DAY” in the state of Ohio in US in recognition of your musical contribution? What was your reaction when you heard this?
This is a big honour and completely unexpected. It was a surprise kept for me when I arrived at Ohio for my concert.. The Governor’s wife presented me this honour. I was too overwhelmed!

From Devdas to Guru and peppy Latto in Ghajini. ….you have had a great going. Where is Shreya Ghoshal heading in the future?
Hmmm! Absolutely no idea where I am headed.. The only forces which drive me in life is a hunger for excellence and the need to do different things. So that will decide how my life shapes up in the future..

Do you think reality TV contests are the right medium to attract new music talent to the film industry?
This question has been asked to me just too many times. Let’s talk something more interesting.

Did you like your experience of being a judge in TV musical contest?
Was fun.. Different kind of experience!

You have sung in many genres. Is there any particular type of song you love to sing?
Indian folk has always attracted me. I would like to experiment more in this genre. And Jazz, which is a very difficult music form, would like to learn it.

DNA INDIA ranked you as #41 in its list of INDIA’s TOP 50 POWER WOMEN.
Wow. I feel awesome:) but to know that I am powerful is actually intimidating, because with power comes responsibility  so, I got to be very careful with every step I take in life, as everyone’s looking here:)

You had a very successful show in Sydney Opera House last time? What is the best part about performing in Sydney?
The last concert I had in Sydney was simply mind-blowing. One of the best I can say  the audience was simply awesome! And the venue was really prestigious. I love the Sydney spirit…Ekdam mast  Very lively responsive audience. Big music lovers. Can’t wait too see them again

You sing so many songs. But what songs do you listen to when you are free.
Hmmm. Lots. From Indian classical to Jazz to old Hindi film to new ones to a little bit of rock

What is your advice to young singers aspiring to make it big in the film industry
Before u decide to take the plunge into taking up a career in this industry, you must learn music, make your art really perfect. And be unique, don’t blindly copy someone’s style.

You have such a pretty face and many of your fans want to see you acting as well. Do you have any plans of acting.
I can’t act.. I am a drama queen only at home.
If I ever do an album I will feature in the video (Laughs)

Can you give us a peep into what your fans can expect to see and hear in your upcoming concert in Sydney.
Come to the concert. I am sure I will be able to touch all music lover’s hearts somewhere
There will be songs from all my films, and if requested may be some old Hindi songs, a few of
my regional hits. Its all up to the audience’s mood  So be ready to make some noise!
And make your request heard !

What message do you want to give to your fans in Australia?
Excitement is building up, can’t wait to see you guys. Australian fans know how to show their love for the artists  and I want to give them that back too.
